KATIE'S TRUTH

IMG_5877.png

Katie wasn’t defined by her illness. She was a sister, a daughter, a friend—someone who laughed loudly, cared deeply, and made people feel seen in a way that was rare. To know her was to feel warmth, even on your hardest days.

But Katie also struggled with something many people couldn’t fully see.

She battled Bulimia Nervosa, an eating disorder that is often hidden behind normal appearances and quiet routines. From the outside, she could seem okay—strong, capable, even thriving. But behind that, she was fighting a cycle that was physically and emotionally exhausting, and incredibly hard to break.

Eating disorders are not about vanity or choice. They are complex mental health conditions rooted in pain, control, fear, and the pressure to feel enough. Katie carried that weight, often in silence, with a strength that many people never fully understood.

There were moments of hope—times when it felt like healing was within reach. And in those moments, Katie’s resilience shined in ways that inspired everyone around her. But recovery is not linear, and Bulimia Nervosa is an illness that can be relentless, even when someone wants so deeply to be free from it.

Losing Katie changed everything.

It left behind grief, questions, and a deep realization: too many people are struggling in silence with eating disorders that are misunderstood or minimized. Too many don’t receive the support they truly need.
